It's been a while since I read a time travel and even longer since I've been so entertained by a fantasy book like this. I would say it's a cross between Outlander meets Hunger Games meets 1984.This is an epic saga that spans centuries in time. When the future demands a better gene pool the answer is found in the past. But there's more involved here than meets the eye because one person's past is another person's future. Taryn is one of the top chosen to travel through time and find a mate. She hadn't planned on becoming attached to Ranulf our hunky Scottish hero!I don't want to give away any of the story because some of the twists took me by surprise, but suffice to say, Taryn learns what family is and what it isn't and when she falls for the hero there are way too many obstacles to insure a happy outcome.I loved this story in the same way I was enthralled with The Lord of the Rings and Mary Stewart's Crystal Cave. It's written in 1st person and Ms. Grant's storytelling whisked me away.I highly recommend. But be warned, you will find yourself slowing down in order to savor the characters and the landscape.
