I read the first book "High Plains Bride" and I enjoyed it. However the sequel was written with such sensitivity to the plight of the native americans that I was quite overcome with emotion. The author has great insight into systemic racism and how it impacts an entire group of people. These same insights are even more highlighted in our society today. The high handed and cruel actions of the militia that the author describes are strikingly similar to the police force now. With this historic backdrop the stigma of the white woman who was branded is very real and tragic. The romance that emerges is very satisfying of two displaced people who find their right place in each other. Kudos to the author for two brilliant stories who handles disturbing themes with great finesse. You are on my permanent shelf of authors to read. I cannot wait!
