After some pretty heavy fall reads, I decided that some light holiday reading was in order. A Christmas by The Sea by Melody Carlson turned out to be just what I was looking for.Wendy Harper's last three years have been filled with sadness and worry for her and her 12 year old son Jackson. Money is tight after losing her husband, and struggling to get out from under a mountain of hospital bills has been tough. However, when Wendy is informed her grandfather left her his small beach front cottage, she sees this gift as a way to move forward financially. She and Jackson can travel to Maine, fix the old place up and sell. What Wendy didn't expect was her son to fall in love with the place and all her childhood memories of Seaside to come flooding back. If that isn't enough, a stray pup, and a handsome furniture maker named Caleb enter the picture making Wendy’s life extremely complicated. Not sure which direction she should take, Wendy must decide to have faith and trust that God has a plan for her and Jackson’s life.I enjoyed this sweet story so much. This book has all the good feels. It’s light and delightful and a perfect book to get into the Christmas spirit.
